I absolutely think writing about a figure with proven authority gives one's work more validity. I studied journalism in college, so leaning on others (interviews, research) to do the heavy lifting in an article is something I prioritized. I could go on about the importance of interviews and using other's words so that you, the writer, don't reflect your own biases in your article. Since joining Medium, however, I've tried to give readers actionable takeaways with my personal experience.

Additionally, I think quoting a figure like Steve Jobs defends my claim. My ideas are my own, but a quote is definitely inspiring.

Thanks for including me in this! Seems like a good way to rack up some engagement on your article.

Best,

Ryan
