That's a more challenging question than knowing why people get up in the morning.
The general answer is that people lift their fingers to make money. You can dissect a human's basic desires by studying their logical and emotional behaviors.
How is this useful for the company you work for? Well, at the very least, it's something you can bring up over an all-hands meeting.
